Introduction #
Today, I went to Tokyo Game Dungeon!
I attended on Day 1.

Absolute Rocket Defenseism #
The first game I playtested was “Absolute Rocket Defenseism”.
The theme of the game is a tower defense where you build a final line of defense to protect a rocket from evil capitalists in order to launch an “Ideological Satellite” meant to “correct” Western ideology.
The rocket’s construction is divided into seven stages, and each stage corresponds to a defense event.
From the beginning, I built a defensive line on the east side, furthest from the base, but starting from the second and third stages, enemies appeared from the south.
And so, it turned into the Maginot Line.
I totally didn’t realize there were two attack routes! Damn those evil capitalists!!
But since you can control your army (the player) in this game, I managed to make it work somehow.
After that, I built a defensive line on the south side too, but because I lacked tax funds, the center of the base was still at zero defense.
Then, during the fifth and sixth stages, paratroopers appeared right in the center of the base.
A hopeless situation!
However, I had previously bribed the comrades in the logistics department several times and received a bunch of weapons.
It was a super tough fight, but in the end, the great “Ideological Satellite” was launched successfully! Viva la Revolution!!
lololol

RewindGirl #
Next up was “RewindGirl,” a time-manipulation action game.
The characters are super cute!!
Actually, this was the game I wanted to see the most this time. The reason is that I once tried to make a similar game during a game jam in the past. But I had just started game development back then, and lacking technical skills, it ended up a failure. Then one day, I found this game and had been looking forward to seeing what kind of game would come out if this idea was taken seriously.
But of course, the main reason is that the characters are just too cute!
The game’s level design is also really good, and it emphasizes not just simple time manipulation, but the coordination between the timelines themselves. The tutorial design is easy to understand, so there’s nothing unnatural about it. The quality exceeded my expectations!!
This game is heavily gameplay-focused, but it does have a story. However, there was a 10-minute limit for the playtest, so please forgive me for barely getting to see it.
But I think the cutscenes and illustrations are also really good (and cute)!

Louloudi Asteri ~Save the Solar System~ #
When I saw this game, I thought it was just a 2D space shooter, but it’s actually a 3D shooter that plays like a 2D one.
Using the right stick, you can change the 2D parallel plane within the 3D space where the player is located.
I’ve also thought before that it would be cool to represent a 2D game within a 3D space, but it was hard to figure out, so I gave up on it. This 2D-like 3D game might be a good experience for me; I learned a lot!
But since I mostly play cute games and rarely play twin-stick shooters, I got a tragic score lol.

Animaroid Girl #
White hair is justice.
Cat ears are justice.
Cuteness is justice.
And the great game that combines all three of these is “Animaroid Girl”!
Cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute cute!!!
I arrived at Hamamatsucho Station before admission time to buy acrylic stands, but since it was my first time there, I got lost.
Because Apple Maps didn’t have the venue building listed.
The elevator locations on each floor of the building were also different, making it hard to navigate.
In the end, just as expected, they were all sold out. I’m sad QAQ.

Doodle Board #
While wandering around, I found a doodle board.
Everyone is so good at drawing~ I want to be an illustrator too.
There were some scary things mixed in with the cute drawings, so I pixelated them a bit.

Million Depth #
I was also interested in this game, but since there were so many people, I decided to just watch.
There were so many people that even the staff seemed surprised lol.
It seems to be a “Roguelike” + “ARPG” game, and you even have to DIY your own weapons.
I really like this type of game, so I want to play it soon.

Cute PC Case #

Conclusion #
I’ve been to TOKYO GAME SHOW before, but I definitely prefer Game Dungeon. The tickets are cheap, it’s not overly crowded, and you can playtest a lot of games. Plus, since it’s mostly indie games, it feels very welcoming to me as a solo game developer. Furthermore, I just want to support Japanese bishoujo indie games lol.
If I have time, I’ll definitely go again!!!
