The de Broglie relation is:

$$ \lambda = \frac{h}{P} $$

And P is the momentum of the particle.

$$ P \equiv mv_g $$$$ P = \sqrt{2mE} \quad (\text{rearranged}) $$

If the velocity of the particle is considered to be the group velocity, the equation for de Broglie’s hypothesis can be derived.
